About the Opportunity:

The Data Engineer is a critical role responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the organization's analytical data infrastructure and pipelines, ensuring the efficient and reliable flow of data from various sources to support the company's analytical and reporting needs.

  • Collaborate with data analysts, business stakeholders, and other data engineers to understand data requirements and ensure data pipelines support business requirements
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines using Azure Databricks
  • Develop and maintain SSIS packages to support our existing SQL server-based environment during the transition to Azure
  • Develop and execute migration strategies, ensuring data integrity, minimal downtime, and seamless transition
  • Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and efficiency
  • Implement and enforce data governance policies, standards / best practices, quality checks, error handling, and automated monitoring mechanisms to ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity
  • Collaborate with data analysts, business stakeholders, and security teams to ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards - implement access controls, data masking, and encryption mechanisms to protect sensitive data

About You:

  • Previous experience in data engineering, preferably in a retail environment (supply chain / logistics, omni-channel sales, marketing, product planning & development)
  • Proficient in Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Strong understanding of data modelling and data warehousing best practices
  • Experience with cloud technologies, particularly Azure, and familiarity with cloud data services (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics)
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python & SQL
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience in Azure DevOps practices is desirable
