About the Opportunity:

As our Employee Relations Advisor, you will have the opportunity to shape a positive employee experience and contribute to the success of Adairs.

Through fostering a positive culture, you will be providing expert guidance employment legislation, workplace conflict resolution, and employee engagement strategies.

You will add significant value through;

  • Providing advice and support to managers and employees on a range of ER issues, including disciplinary actions, grievances, workplace conflict, and performance management.
  • Lead thorough and unbiased investigations into employee relations matters, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to company policies.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employees regarding workplace issues, ensuring all concerns are handled fairly and in accordance with legislation.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in employment law and best practices, ensuring the company’s policies and procedures are current and legally compliant.
  • Review, develop, and implement employee policies to ensure compliance with employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act and Modern Awards.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of training programs on ER topics for managers and employees to increase capability.
  • Provide coaching and support to managers in handling difficult conversations and improving team dynamics.
  • Prepare regular reports on ER activities, including trends in employee grievances, absenteeism, turnover, and performance management.
  • Use data to identify patterns and recommend proactive solutions to improve employee engagement and reduce workplace issues.
  • Support managers with the performance review process, providing guidance on setting objectives, conducting appraisals, and managing underperformance.

What It Takes To Be Great:

  • Substantial experience in an Employee Relations or HR advisory role, preferably within retail
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian employment law, Fair Work legislation, and the GRIA Modern Awards.
  • Experience in conduction workplace investigations
  • Exceptional relationship building and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated success in developing people centric policies and procedures
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle sensitive and complex issues with discretion.
  • Conflict resolution and mediation experience.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and discretion.
