It’s an exciting time to join Adairs as we continue to expand our Store of the Future concept, with the next phase launching across Victoria, you’ll lead a region at the forefront of how the Adairs experience comes to life.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager Retail Operations, you will own the commercial and people performance of approximately 50+ stores across VIC, SA and TAS, leading a team of eight direct reports including Area Managers and State Visual Merchandising Managers.

You will be accountable for performance, people and execution, shaping a high-performing, customer-led region that delivers sustainable growth.

How you will make an impact:

• Own the numbers by driving sales, productivity and customer outcomes with full P&L accountability across revenue, productivity and controllable costs
• Lead national operational accountability for the Outlet channel — bringing strategic oversight and disciplined execution to a format distinct from full-price retail
• Lead the leaders by coaching and developing Area, VM and Store Managers,  building leadership capability, succession planning and a high-performance culture
• Create a high-performance environment — where people feel supported and motivated to perform, balancing high expectations with genuine care
• Champion the customer and brand in treating visual merchandising as a core commercial lever and holding every touchpoint to exceptional standards
• Partner with cross-functional teams, working with VM, Operations, Finance, P&C, Risk, Planning and Property to deliver seamless execution across the States.
• Own national Outlet performance — leading beyond your region to drive consistent results across the network.
• Drive a safety-first culture by ensuring safe work practices are embedded as a non-negotiable standard, not just a compliance checkbox.
• Lead through change in anticipating risks and opportunities early, keeping teams aligned, focused and energised

What You’ll Bring:

• Proven experience in a multi-state retail leadership position, with full P&L ownership and a track record of delivering strong commercial outcomes
• Demonstrated success leading senior leaders (such as but not limited to Area, VM and Store Managers), lifting standards and building succession pipelines
• Experience managing performance, compliance and operational risk across a dispersed network in close partnership with P&C, Risk and Tech
• A commercial approach to visual merchandising and understanding its role in driving conversion and brand experience
• Strong executive presence and influencing capability, with clear, credible and impactful communication
• A track record of leading through change, maintaining pace, clarity and engagement
• Strong digital and data literacy using insights to inform fast, fact-based decisions
• Confidence leading remote teams across a multi-state portfolio, with regular travel
• High levels of resilience, self-awareness and authenticity, with the ability to lead with both courage and warmth
