How you will spend your day:

  • Ensure that the product range is balanced and represents an appropriate seasonal flow taking into consideration previous sales learns, challenges and opportunities
  • Research and understand key items, col, and styling for the season, and apply these appropriately to the Adairs product range, in collaboration with the Design Team and Planner
  • Analyse and have a comprehensive understanding of category history applying this to the range build
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and awareness of competitors and external trends /market activity, identifying missed opportunities and new trends to maximise revenue
  • Formulate and Drive Strategic Initiatives that support Department/ Business objectives
  • Quantify range in collaboration with the Planner
  • Communicate and liaise with suppliers in order to develop and produce required products for the range, negotiating the best possible costs to achieve margin targets
  • Maximise sales within season by reordering best sellers as required and maintaining stock of key lines in conjunction with Planner
  • Work in collaboration with Planner and Creative Strategy manager to achieve sales budgets, gross profit margin budgets, markdown targets and closing stocks
  • Undertake overseas buying and sourcing trips as required
  • Work with Quality support to ensure product execution is consistent with Adairs brand product standards

What we’ll value in you:

  • Minimum 5 years experience working in Product Development or Design in a commercial Retail Business
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Product Design or Buying preferred.
  • Comprehensive Adobe knowledge , proficient in illustrator
  • Intermediate Microsoft excel experience
  • Technical product/ textile knowledge
  • A folio that demonstrates the ability to design product that is commercial and in line with Adairs brand aesthetic.
  • A technical understanding of product development and execution , fabrics/ materials/ finishes and print application
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Experience in negotiating
  • Experience working with external suppliers, including offshore suppliers
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills with a focus on proactivity and innovation
  • Ability to work cross functionally to optimise the customers experience of the product range online and instore
  • Ability to build strong working relationships to achieve objectives.
